A seven million pound scheme to restore Scarborough's historic South Cliff Gardens has been completed. The restoration, carried out over a period of 23 months, was jointly funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The National Lottery Community Fund, the Borough Council and through local fundraising.

In 2007 the group were successful with obtaining a start up grant which enabled us to work on obtaining grants of £15K for restoration work in St Martin's Square,

In 2012 we approached the Council about applying to the Heritage Lottery Fund for £5M to restore the whole of South Cliff Gardens. During discussions a Councillor recommended us to apply for a smaller grant. which we did. We received £50K to restore the Rose Garden and the success of this project must have helped with the major bid which was finally approved in 2019 and completed in 2023.

In between these major projects we had many other successful schemes Friends of South Cliff Gardens Projects
